Effective January 1, 2020, all companion cats must have a current rabies vaccination and purchase an Ogle County rabies tag to be registered in our county. Feral cats and farm cats do not apply to this new law. If anyone has any questions, please contact our office.

If the owner of a dog or companion cat does not have the dog or companion cat vaccinated and registered with Ogle County Animal Control, the dog or companion cat owner is subject to a written citation, which carries a mandatory court appearance and will be fined no less than $25.00 and no more than $500.00 for each violation. Monthly reports are given by the Animal Control Warden with totals of how many dog  and cat bites, stray dogs, animal abuse cases, and other pertinent information regarding the performance of the Animal Control Warden’s duties.  Copies of this report are submitted each month to the appropriate board that governs the Animal Control Department for their review.
