Licensed Food Establishments |
Food Establishment is:
- stores, prepares, packages, serves, vends food directly to the consumer, or otherwise provides food for human consumption, such as a restaurant, satellite or catered feeding location, catering operation if the operation provides food directly to a consumer or to a conveyance used to transport people, market, vending location, conveyance used to transport people, institution or food pantry; and
- relinquishes possession of food to a consumer directly, or indirectly, through a delivery service such as home delivery of grocery orders or restaurant takeout orders, or delivery service that is provided by common earners.

Temporary Food Events |
Means a food establishment that operates for a period of no more than fourteen (14) consecutive days in conjunction with a single event or celebration. Temporary food establishments handling raw, uncooked meat, chicken or seafood products shall be categorized as a level 1. |

Vending Machines |
A food and beverage vending machine permit is required for companies which have on or more amount locations in Ogle County with food and beverage vending machines that dispense cup hot beverages, cup soft drinks, milk, ice cream, perishable foods (sandwiches, etc.), hot canned foods, bulk popcorn, bulk ice, and/or water.

Cottage Food |
Cottage Food is:
- Physically altering/processing/creating product
- In primary domestic residence or a farm kitchen
- Direct sale to the consumer (not for repacking, sale and/or distribution by a 3rd party
- Sales made by owner family member, or employee
- Registered as a Cottage Food Operator with their local health department in the county or municipality in which they reside
- No prohibited ingredients or products

Some of the qualifications to register as a home kitchen are only non-potentially hazardous shelf stable baked goods may be sold. Any egg or dairy products should be part of the baking process. Examples of allowed baked goods are cookies, cakes, pies. Pumpkin pie is not permitted. The person preparing and selling products as a home kitchen operation must have a certified food protection manage certificate
