Food and Nutrition Resources

Increasing Food and Nutrition Security with CDC Funding:

In 2022, the Ogle County Health Department was awarded a grant through the CDC to create a plan to address social determinants of health, specifically food and nutrition security, throughout Lee, Ogle, and Whiteside counties. To create this plan, the health department teamed up with many other local organizations and conducted many analyses and collected data to created a cohesive Accelerator Plan.

Check out more about the Accelerator Plan here: Ogle County Health Department CDC Accelerator Plan Success Story

The Ogle County Health Department has since been awarded implementation funding for the Accelerator Plan that was created and Carroll county has been added to the catchment area. The goal of this Accelerator Plan is to increase food and nutrition access to communities throughout Lee, Ogle, Whiteside, and Carroll counties by offering education opportunities for community members as well as Mini Food Centers to be placed throughout the counties. More information will be coming regarding the Mini Food Centers and their locations.
